History

1784: Grove Academy:  A Private Academy for Boys

1865: Reopened as Kenansville Seminary:  A Female Institution

1897: James Sprunt Institute

1918: Changed name to Grove Institute

1960: Reopened as Duplin County Unit of Goldsboro Industrial Education Center

1964: Renamed James Sprunt Institute

1971:  Chartered as James Sprunt Technical Institute

1986: Approved for Community College status

JSCC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates.
