Financial Aid

James Sprunt Community College offers a comprehensive program of student financial aid to assist students in meeting educational expenses.





For Fall 2021, Spring 2022, Summer 2022:  Complete 2021-2022   FAFSA  (2019 taxes)

For Fall 2022, Spring 2023, Summer 2023:  Complete 2022-2023   FAFSA  (2020 taxes) – Available October 1, 2021


Important information:

  • If your financial aid has not been awarded and ALL required documentation turned in prior to registration day, you will be responsible for payment of your tuition and books. Your financial aid is not complete until ALL documentation has been received. Notification of any missing documents will be mailed to your address on file. You can also check Self-Service by clicking here. If you have trouble logging in, click here .
  • The student financial aid program at James Sprunt Community College is administered according to the nationally accepted principle that the family (meaning parents or those acting in place of parents, the student, and/or spouse) is responsible for a student’s educational expenses*. Financial aid is available to fill the “gap” between the total cost of education and the amount the family can reasonably be expected to contribute.

    * Reasonable educational expenses constitute the student’s educational budget. Expenses included in the student’s educational budget are tuition and fees, room and board, books, supplies, transportation, miscellaneous personal expenses, and expenses related to maintenance of a student’s dependents.

September 23, 2021                 October 21, 2021                  November 18th, 2021                 December 16, 2021 (for Holiday classes)

         NOTE: Students registered for late start courses may receive two separate refunds. See your financial aid counselor for details. 

Information about refund dates/times will be sent via your JSCC email. BE SURE TO CHECK OFTEN FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION. 


FA Census Date For Fall 2021: September 3

What Does This Mean?

If you drop or add a course, your enrollment will increase and decrease, however, once the census date passes, your enrollment is “frozen”, meaning if you need to add a course, you will not receive any additional financial aid for that course. For this reason, it is best that you enroll in all courses within the first two weeks of the semester.

Work Study Program

James Sprunt Community College participates in the federally funded program that assists students with the costs of education, also known as Federal Work Study program. The Federal Work Study Program helps students earn financial funding through part-time employment. It emphasizes experience in civic education and work related to your course of study whenever possible.

Veteran’s Affairs

Educational assistance are available to the veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces and their eligible dependents. Veterans and dependents who wish to apply should contact the Veterans Affairs Office at James Sprunt Community College in person, by letter, or by phone at 910.275.6378.
