HANDS-ON TRAINING PREPARES EMPLOYEES TO PURSUE INDUSTRY-RECOGNIZED NC3 CERTIFICATIONS

As James Sprunt Community College recognizes Career Exploration & Workforce Readiness Month this September, the college is highlighting partnerships that connect local employers and employees with training designed to strengthen Duplin County’s workforce.

Eight employees at Precision Hydraulic Cylinders (PHC) recently completed 24 hours of hands-on precision measurement training through a partnership between the company, JSCC’s NCEdge Customized Training Program and the college’s Industrial Systems Technology program.

Led by Industrial Systems Technology Instructor Jordan Knowles, the training focused on precision measurement techniques, proper tool usage and safety practices essential to today’s advanced manufacturing environments.

With the classroom and hands-on portions of the training complete, participating employees are eligible to complete the remaining requirements to earn six industry-recognized NC3 Precision Measurement Instrument certifications.

We are proud to partner with PHC to deliver training that directly supports their workforce needs,” said Star Jackson, NCEdge Director at James Sprunt Community College. “By leveraging the resources at James Sprunt, we are able to provide employees with opportunities to develop valuable technical skills and pursue industry credentials while helping local companies remain competitive in an evolving manufacturing landscape.”

Throughout the training, employees gained experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges and other inspection tools commonly used in manufacturing and industrial settings.

“This partnership demonstrates the college’s commitment to providing innovative training solutions,” Knowles said. “Trainees develop competencies necessary to measure, inspect and manufacture parts across various CNC machining platforms.”

The collaboration illustrates how JSCC works with area employers to identify workforce needs and develop customized training opportunities that enhance employee skills, improve productivity and support economic growth throughout the region.
