Self-Supporting Programs

Subscribing to the philosophy of life-long learning, the Continuing Education Division offers a wide range of courses and programs for adults of all ages and interests.

What are Self-Supporting Programs?

In short, these are classes to enhance your skills, just for fun or self-fulfillment!

James Sprunt Community College Self Supporting Program is a program of non-credit, fee-based classes and activities designed to serve individuals with educational goals that do not require college credit. Self -Supporting Education classes are offered in addition to the JSCC instructional program and are not academic equivalents of regular credit classes or prerequisites for the traditional college program. Self -Supporting programs offer a variety of community service courses for personal enrichment, culture and leisure skills. SS consist of classes and programs designed to promote personal growth and enrichment. This may include courses in leisure activities, non -vocational development, learning a new language, discovering a new talent and improving your arts and crafts.

Do you have a special class that you would love to see offered at James Sprunt? The SS area offers short courses and workshops designed to help you learn a new skill, pursue a hobby, and meet new friends. Get involved and make long lasting friendships while enriching your hobbies, culture, leisure and personal skills. We look forward to seeing you on campus!

Examples of Self-Supporting Program

Examples include:  Belly Dancing, Wreath Making, Physical Conditioning, Digital Photography, Cake Decorating, Floral Design, Fitness for Seniors, Joy of Painting and many more.  Please check back often as new classes are added regularly.
