Spartan Hour

The Spartan Hour is an afterschool program for students from Kenansville Elementary School students in grades three to five.

James Sprunt Community College offers the Spartan Hour program to students from Kenansville Elementary School in Grades 3-5.  This dynamic after-school program mixes instructional learning with physical activity.  It provides participants with an opportunity to complete homework with assistance from JSCC volunteers and enjoy outside physical fitness activities.  Leaders from the Duplin Early College High School and various student organizations on campus serve as mentors to the participants.

The Spartan Hour meets on Monday’s for six weeks in the fall and spring.  It also has a one-week summer camp in June.  Participants are brought to JSCC by bus after school and are picked-up by parents at 5:00 pm.  Snacks are also provided to participants.  Spartan Hour is offered at no cost thanks to a generous grant from the Duplin Foundation for Youth Advancement.

Applications can be picked-up from Kenansville Elementary School.  For more information, contact Krisha Parker at 910-275-6255 or Brian Jones at 910-275-6362.
