How Do I Transfer to a Senior Institution?
While the transfer process is different for each student, the single most important factor is the same for everyone: You must take responsibility for every stop of the process. There are no hard and fast rules because the circumstances for each transfer student are different, and every college and university has its own policies concerning transfer admissions. (CFNC.org)
- Create a plan
- Participate in the opportunities given at community college
- Transfer Tuesdays (spring semester)
- Representatives from six different senior institutions come to James Sprunt Community College to answer question regarding transferring.
- University Transfer Day (November)
- Representatives from more than 20 institutions attend University Transfer Day. Students attend and ask questions about transferring and program at these schools
- Choose a field of study. Explore the opportunities of taking classes that you find interesting to find out what areas/specialties interest you.
- Research colleges/universities
- Decide when you plan to transfer and create a task list – know deadlines (submitting application, applying for financial aid)
- Communicate with your advisor (current college) and your new one
Selecting a university:
- Does the university offer the program that I’m interested in?
- What are the minimum transfer requirements?
- What specific classes should I take at James Sprunt Community College to get the most transfer credit?
Go to university website – investigate:
