Access to Achievement is a state-funded IDD workforce training program empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to pursue their education and career goals with confidence.
College is Possible, For Everyone.
At James Sprunt Community College, we believe higher education should be within reach for all people, including those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who have often been left out of traditional college experiences. That’s why we’re proud to be part of Access to Achievement, a statewide initiative led by the North Carolina Community College System.
Access to Achievement is designed to create inclusive educational pathways that lead to real opportunities: skills for the workforce, greater independence, and the confidence to thrive in community life.
At James Sprunt, this work is woven into the fabric of our campus—spanning academic programs, skilled trades, continuing education, and adult basic skills. It’s more than access. It’s a transformation.
With the guidance of our Access To Achievement Coordinator, Jennifer Cotten, students can receive personalized support with:
- Crafting a person-centered plan
- Navigating program options
- Finding the right fit to reach their goals
There’s no need for a formal diagnosis. Students simply need to self-identify and express interest in support.
We’re here to open doors, remove barriers, and walk alongside students as they pursue purpose, growth, and lifelong success.
