Steps for completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

1. Visit https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

2. New students click Start Here, returning students click Log in.
-For Spring 2025, Summer 2025:  Complete 2024-2025 FAFSA  (2022 taxes) 

–For Fall 2025, Spring 2026: Complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA (2023 taxes) – Available in December 2024.

3. Follow the directions in the application. There is a help menu if needed. Call or visit the financial aid office if you need assistance. The JSCC School code is 007687.

• If your financial aid has not been awarded and ALL required documentation turned in prior to registration day, you will be responsible for payment of your tuition and books. Your financial aid is not complete until ALL documentation has been received. Notification of any missing documents will be mailed to your address on file. You can also check Self-Service by clicking here. If you have trouble logging in, click here.
• The student financial aid program at James Sprunt Community College is administered according to the nationally accepted principle that the family (meaning parents or those acting in place of parents, the student, and/or spouse) is responsible for a student’s educational expenses*. Financial aid is available to fill the “gap” between the total cost of education and the amount the family can reasonably be expected to contribute.* Reasonable educational expenses constitute the student’s educational budget. Expenses included in the student’s educational budget are tuition and fees, room and board, books, supplies, transportation, miscellaneous personal expenses, and expenses related to maintenance of a student’s dependents.
