Many people who support the James Sprunt Foundation’s mission say they derive great satisfaction from their generosity and would like to do more. We can suggest creative ways to support the college and its students in ways that you might not have considered. The JSCC Foundation may receive gifts of cash, securities, deferred gifts, property, equipment, in-kind gifts, and materials. These gifts are used to provide funds for scholarships, educational activities, and educational materials that can assist the students and/or enhance the services of James Sprunt Community College.
Contributions can be mailed or dropped off at:
James Sprunt Foundation, Inc.
PO Box 398
133 James Sprunt Drive
Kenansville, NC 28349
Friends of the college are invited each year to support the Foundation’s annual fund drive. Contributions may be made at any time during the year. Contributions can be designated to programs or scholarships, or they may simply be designated to support the educational activities of the college. The Foundation Board carefully uses general non-designated contributions to provide extra support to current and planned programs and to support innovative projects. All JSCC alumni, employees, trustees, foundation board, and community residents are encouraged to participate. For more information, contact Donna Springfield, Foundation Coordinator at 910-296-6166 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Gifts of Cash
Cash gifts are the most common form of giving and are as easy to make as writing a check to the James Sprunt College Foundation. Your gift to the JSCC Foundation is tax deductible to the extent of the law. Many states allow state tax charitable deductions that can make your gifts even more economical. You can also establish a multi-year pledge to extend the impact of your gift.
Increase Your Gift Through the Matching Gift Program
You can double or triple your gift through a matching gift program. To make a matching gift, talk with your company’s human resources or community relations department.
Gifts of Securities and Stock
The JSCC Foundation is pleased to receive gifts of stocks, bonds, securities and real estate. Staff members will be happy to assist you and if needed, professional financial, legal, or real estate advisors to develop plans for your gifts.
By donating securities held (more than one year), you may avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation and receive a charitable deduction for the full market share of your donation. Stocks can be transferred to the JSCC Foundation’s account electronically or by mail.
Gifts of Property
By donating gifts of property, you may avoid capital gains tax on your profit and you may receive an income tax charitable deduction for the full market value of the property.
Establish a Fund
Endowments can be established to support programs, services, or scholarships. The executive director of the JSCC Foundation will assist you in developing an endowment fund. See JSCC scholarships for more information about endowed scholarships.
Legacy and Planned Giving
The JSCC Foundation is pleased to discuss your planned giving options and to work with appropriate professionals to assist you with developing a planned gift.
An estate gift is made after the donor’s passing, such as through a will, externally-managed trusts, retirement funds or proceeds from a life insurance policy. Estate gifts are part of planned giving, which means the donor planned to give the gift while still living.
During the next several years, there will be a number of new construction projects happening on the James Sprunt Community College Campus. You can memorialize your loved one by having a classroom, lab or auditorium named in their honor.
There are also a number of corporate naming opportunities as well.
Corporate gifts of annual fund contributions, one-time contributions, facility naming contributions, matching contribution programs, scholarship funds, and event sponsorships support the mission of the foundation to develop partnerships that support the college and its students’ success. Corporations’ volunteers also support the foundation’s events and special educational activities.
