SECU BRIDGE TO CAREER PROGRAM PRESENTS SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS FOR STUDENTS PURSUING THE WORKFORCE.

State Employees Credit Union is known for its philanthropic spirit across North Carolina. One dollar a month is donated from each SECU member’s account to support the SECU Foundation with the appropriate slogan of “People Helping People.” The SECU Foundation supports three specific and impactful forms of aid. These include the High School Scholarship Program, the Community College Scholarship Program, and the Bridge to Career Program.

The James Sprunt Community College Foundation recently hosted SECU representative Kenny Barrett, Vice President/City Executive of the Kenansville Branch, for an intimate ceremony celebrating the SECU Foundation’s generous donation of $18,000 through the Bridge to Career Program. This program, available to all 58 NC Community Colleges, exists to eliminate financial barriers for students desiring to obtain industry-recognized credentials that will afford them sustainable wages within their communities. The focus of this program is to assist the unemployed and underemployed population of North Carolina. The program annually funds thirty $500 scholarships for students desiring to take continuing education courses.

Director of James Sprunt Community College Foundation, Taylor Sandlin, states, “JSCC is very thankful for the partnership with SECU! With these funds, we can help our students reach their educational goals to enter the workforce. Without this partnership, some of our students would not be able to afford this experience.”
