ALL 18 ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING GRADUATES EARN REGISTERED NURSE CREDENTIALS ON FIRST ATTEMPT
James Sprunt Community College’s (JSCC) Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program has achieved a remarkable milestone, earning a 100% first-time pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
All 18 graduates in the program’s most recent cohort successfully passed the NCLEX-RN exam, securing their credentials as Registered Nurses (RNs) and demonstrating the strength of JSCC’s nursing education program. This achievement reflects the dedication and perseverance of the students, as well as the exceptional instruction, mentorship, and preparation provided by the College’s nursing faculty and staff.
The NCLEX-RN is the nationally recognized licensure examination required for graduates of nursing programs to enter the workforce as registered nurses. Successfully passing the exam is a critical step in launching a professional nursing career.
Dr. Phadra Murray, Dean of Health Education at JSCC, praised the graduates for their accomplishment.
The 18 Associate Degree Nursing graduates at JSCC have demonstrated remarkable dedication, resilience, and sacrifice while navigating the demanding path of nursing education. By managing intensive clinical rotations, challenging lectures, and extensive coursework, they achieved a significant milestone: a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX on their first attempt. This accomplishment was driven by their determination and the outstanding guidance and high standards established by JSCC’s nursing instructors. Through rigorous training, persistent support, and a strong commitment to excellence, these educators prepared the students for clinical and professional success. As these individuals conclude one chapter as student nurses and enter a new chapter as registered nurses, they are equipped to apply their knowledge, skills, and compassion in healthcare, exemplifying their dedication and the strong foundation provided by their distinguished nursing faculty.”
Murray attributes the success of the program to a culture of preparation and accountability. To ensure graduates were ready to enter the workforce immediately after completing the program, students were prepared to take the NCLEX-RN shortly after graduation. They also participated in a comprehensive review and assessment system designed to strengthen critical thinking skills, identify knowledge gaps, and maximize exam readiness.
Beyond academic rigor, the JSCC Nursing Program is known for its student-centered approach. Faculty members work closely with students throughout their educational journey, providing individualized support and encouragement while maintaining high expectations for success.
Reba Barnes, ADN Instructor, reflected on the accomplishments of the graduating class.
“I am incredibly proud of the growth these students have demonstrated and of the skilled, adaptable, and resilient nurses they have become.”
Yire Bueno, ADN Instructor, echoed that sentiment.
“Seeing every graduate pass the NCLEX is a proud moment and a reflection of their hard work, perseverance, and dedication to excellence.”
Dr. Heather Hector, ADN Instructor, highlighted the commitment displayed by the cohort throughout the program.
“This graduating class stands out as a remarkable group of active learners who truly brought their ‘A-game’ to class every single day.”
JSCC President Dr. Shannon Hair also celebrated the achievement.
At James Sprunt Community College, our mission is to prepare students for success not only in the classroom, but also in their chosen professions and communities. This outstanding achievement reflects the dedication of Dr. Murray and the Nursing faculty, whose commitment to excellence and personalized support helps students reach their full potential. We are incredibly proud of these 18 graduates for earning their Registered Nurse credentials and achieving a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX-RN. Their hard work, perseverance, and determination have paid off, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make in the healthcare profession and the lives of those they serve.”
The success of this graduating class underscores JSCC’s commitment to developing highly skilled healthcare professionals who are prepared to meet the growing needs of patients and communities throughout southeastern North Carolina and beyond. As these new registered nurses begin their careers, they carry forward a tradition of excellence that continues to distinguish the James Sprunt Community College Nursing Program.
