A SHARED COMMITMENT TO EDUCATION, COMMUNITY, AND OPPORTUNITY THROUGH THE JAMES SPRUNT FOUNDATION INC.
The Wallace Rotary Club, an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide in service, continues its long-standing tradition of community impact through humanitarian service, ethical leadership, and the promotion of goodwill and peace. Locally, the Wallace Rotary Club carries out this mission through meaningful service initiatives and strategic support for area students and programs.
As Wallace Rotary leader Betty Earl explained, Rotary’s mission is both global in scope and local in impact.
“Our motto is service above self. Wallace Rotary exists to support community leaders who are doing good things in the community.”
During a recent meeting, the Wallace Rotary Club presented a $1,200 scholarship through the James Sprunt Foundation Inc. to support curriculum students who are graduates of Wallace-Rose Hill High School. This annual scholarship directly reflects Rotary’s commitment to investing in the next generation.
Ms. Earl added,
“Part of Rotary is supporting various youth programs. There is a dedicated component of our program for this purpose. The mission of James Sprunt aligns perfectly with our goals.”
In a powerful show of partnership and shared investment in student success, JSCC President Dr. Shannon Hair matched the Rotary Club’s donation with a personal gift of $1,200.
Dr. Hair shared,
The Wallace Rotary Club has been a long-standing supporter of James Sprunt Community College. As organizations dedicated to serving and strengthening our communities, our missions are closely aligned. It is an honor to match this donation and partner with the Wallace Rotary Club in support of the students we serve. We are sincerely grateful for their continued support and the enduring partnership between our organizations.”
Wallace Rotary President Wayne Casteen expressed appreciation for the generosity and collaboration shown by Dr. Hair.
“He mentioned wanting to match our donation and gave an incredible presentation to our club. Anytime you can match funds or double funds in a short amount of time is a great thing.”
Taylor Sandlin, Director of Development for James Sprunt Community College, highlighted the lasting impact of the scholarship program:
For more than 30 years, the Wallace Rotary Club has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to student success through its scholarship support. Established in 1994, this scholarship continues to provide opportunities for Wallace-Rose Hill High School graduates to pursue higher education and build brighter futures. We are incredibly grateful for Wallace Rotary’s generosity, vision, and lasting investment in our students and community.”
James Sprunt Community College and the James Sprunt Foundation Inc. extend sincere appreciation to the Wallace Rotary Club for its continued generosity and partnership, and look forward to many more years of shared commitment to student success and community growth.
