INCOMING SPARTANS COMPLETE ENROLLMENT, CONNECT WITH CAMPUS RESOURCES, AND PREPARE FOR A SUCCESSFUL FALL 2026 SEMESTER
James Sprunt Community College welcomed future Spartans during its annual Commitment Day, held June 24 and 25. The event gave incoming students the opportunity to complete many of the important steps needed to prepare for the Fall 2026 semester—all in one visit.
Throughout the two-day event, students met with academic advisors, registered for fall classes, logged into their JSCC accounts, connected with Financial Aid and Student Support Services, learned about Access to Achievement (A2A), and received their student IDs and parking passes. After completing their checklist, students and their families enjoyed lunch from Saved by Grace Soul Food and ice cream from A Little Something Extra, courtesy of JSCC.
Commitment Day is designed to ensure students begin the semester feeling prepared, confident, and connected to campus. The event also highlights the collaborative effort of faculty and staff across the college, who work together each year to create a welcoming and memorable experience for every new Spartan.
Melissa Bostic, JSCC NC Senior Career Coach and coordinator of Commitment Day, shared her enthusiasm for the event.
Commitment Day is my favorite event of the year! We get to welcome our new Spartans and show them just what JSCC is about! I love meeting everyone and talking with them about everything we offer. This is truly a great event!”
Dr. Shannon Hair, President of James Sprunt Community College, expressed his appreciation for both the students and the campus-wide teamwork that makes the event possible.
Every future begins with a single courageous decision. Commitment Day is about celebrating students who have chosen to take that first step while also recognizing the incredible teamwork across our campus that makes their journey possible. Seeing every department come together with one shared purpose—supporting student success—is a powerful reminder of who we are at James Sprunt Community College. We are proud to welcome these students into our family and look forward to helping them build the futures they’ve imagined.”
Dr. Shakeena White, Vice President of Student Services, emphasized that students still have time to enroll for the upcoming semester.
Commitment Day marks an important milestone in the college journey, providing students with the opportunity to connect with advisors, explore financial aid resources, and prepare for a successful start at James Sprunt Community College. We encourage prospective students who have not yet enrolled for the Fall semester to contact our office at (910) 275-6360 for personalized assistance. There is still time to join the Spartan community and take the next step toward achieving your educational and career goals.”
The Fall 2026 semester begins on August 17. Although Commitment Day has concluded, prospective students can still take advantage of Spartan 60, a one-stop enrollment event designed to help students prepare for the semester. Upcoming Spartan 60 sessions will be held July 15, July 23, and August 4.
