Exploring the Future of Teaching!

Students in Mrs. Sloan’s EDU 216: Foundations of Education class recently created vision boards to reflect on their future in the teaching profession.

This hands-on activity encouraged students to:
🎯 Explore whether teaching is the right fit for them
💡 Gain insight into what life as an educator really looks like
🌟 Identify the kind of teacher they hope to become

Through images, words, and personal goals, these future educators connected their values and aspirations to the realities of the classroom.

Way to go, Mrs. Sloan and students, for inspiring the next generation of teachers! 💛💙

JSCC Small Business Spotlight: Andres Auto Shop, LLC 🚗

Israel Andres and his wife Kristi have owned Andres Auto Shop for 11 years. As they decided to transition their family business from a part-time to full-time operation, they knew becoming a registered LLC was the next step.

“I probably could have done this on my own, but I just needed someone to hold my hand and guide me through the process,” said Kristi.

That helping hand came from Joy Wynne, Small Business Director and Associate Dean of Continuing Education/WestPark. “The Small Business Center is proud to be a resource for small businesses at every stage,” said Wynne.

In just a thirty-minute appointment, the Andres family was off and running! They took advantage of the free business counseling offered through the JSCC Small Business Center, and Joy’s personal approach gave Kristi the confidence she needed to move forward.

“The process was so simple. Joy volunteered to help me and I am so glad she did,” Kristi said.

Kristi shared that Joy was flexible, building her time around the family’s busy schedule. Since December, Kristi reports that business has seen a slight uptick — and they’re hopeful for even more growth in the new year.

“I would suggest to anyone wanting to grow their business to take advantage of this free resource,” said Kristi.
