Student Success Story: Jessica Hardison 📚 Program of Study: Early Childhood Education 💬 What inspired you to pursue your program at JSCC? “My love for children inspired me to pursue Early Childhood Education. I’ve loved and helped raise so many kids in my small town of Richlands. When my youngest started school, God placed it on my heart to go back—and I’ve never looked back since. From the first day I stepped on campus, the love and encouragement from everyone at JSCC was endless. I’ve said it a million times: ‘I’m just an old mom, I’m not sure I can do this.’ But everyone at James Sprunt reminded me—you’re never too old to go back to school.” 🛠️ What challenges have you overcome on your educational journey? “Coming back to college later in life was a huge adjustment. Just reading the syllabus overwhelmed me! Balancing school with being a mom of 4 and a wife was really tough. But with time and determination, things started to fall into place. Life eventually found its rhythm.” 🏆 What has been the most rewarding part of your time at JSCC? “Making the President’s List with a 4.0 GPA literally brought tears to my eyes. I worked so hard for that! Being recognized with awards this year made it all even more rewarding.” 👩‍👧 Who or what has been your biggest source of support? “My family and community have been amazing, but my daughter, Lacey Hardison, has been my rock. She’s also a JSCC student and the best tutor a mom could ask for. From helping me submit my assignments to showing me how to build PowerPoints—Lacey has been with me every step of the way.” Jessica recently received the Spartan Writing Contest Award, Spartan Helmet Award, and Spartan Skills Award! 👏 We cant wait to see what your future holds! JSCC is proud to have you as a student 💙
